GANGTEY VALLEY TREK

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Paro
On arrival at Paro airport, you will be received by our representative and take you for sightseeing and transferred to your hotel in Paro.
 
Day 2
Thimphu - Gangtey

Once you are done with breakfast, you will visit to Buddha point, Memorial Chorten and the Heritage museum. After lunch, you will move to Gangtey which is approximately 5 hours’ drive from Thimphu. Overnight at Gangtey

Day 3
Gangtey - Gogona (15km, Approximately 5hrs)

The trail starts with gradually upward through meadows and fields, ascending to Tsele-La pass (3400m). Then the trail gradually descends for some time through forest of junipers, bamboos and rhododendrons. After a short climb we reach to Gogona village (people of that village are originally nomads and they speaks the language of Bjobkha). Overnight camp at Gogona village

Day 4
Gogona - Khotokha(16km, Approximately 6hrs)
The trails winds up gently above Gogona village entering into the forest of firs, oak, spruce, junipers and rhododendrons. A long gradual climb will take us to Shonju-la pass (3400m) and leads down to the wide valley of Khotokha village. Overnight camp
 
Day 5
Khotokha – Chazam/Wangduephodrang (12km, Approximately 4hrs)

A short ascent takes us to a pass from where the path descends steeply through different vegetation reaching the bridge at Wangduephodrang where the trek ends there. Overnight at hotel in Wangduephodrang

Day 6
Wangdue Phodrang - Thimphu

Till lunch time you will do sightseeing in Punakha covering Punakha Dzong, nunnery and Chimi lhakhang, after lunch drive to Dochhu-la pass and drive to Paro for a night

Day 7
Paro Sightseeing
Hike to Taktsang (Tiger Nest). Then visit to Kyichu temple (one of the oldest temples built in 7th century by Tibetan King Songtshen Gompo.
Day 8
Depart From Paro Airport

After breakfast, drive to airport for flight to onward destination.
