The Dzong was built by Chogyel Minjur Tempa after Zhabdrung prophesied and ordered him to put down the local chieftains and was built in 1659 to defend against Tibetan invasions and is located on hill top overlooking Drangme-chhu.
It is located 30 minutes away by drive from Tashigang town and is a Nyingma monastery. The monastery was constructed by religious master Dungsay Garab Rinpoche in 1990 and houses religious practitioners and monks.
